  • Flooding

Some time last year it was mentioned that B. smithi needed to be flooded. But I can't remember what time of year it's supposed to be done!
Does this only apply to smithi or do all brachy's need this?

I think you mean by flooded, is that they are giving a wet season.

Basically I believe it is common practice among breeders that once you have mated your B,smithi after several weeks you add several cups of water to the tanks substrate to simulate a wet season. IE the humidity is raised. This is believed to bring on the production of the egg sac.

I here it works well. I have just recently bred B,smithi, she was not given any such wet season but still produced a viable sac. I caught her eating the egg sac other day and it was full of eggs with legs. I have only managed to save 25 individuals which have now moulted in the nymphs.

      Regards
      Mark

        flooding

Now I remember Mark, it was to initiate the wet season.
But I thought it was a matter of normal husbandry at certain times of the year, e.g. wet season, not just because the female was nursing an eggsac? It was either mentioned by Ray G. or Richard G., some time last year. Can anyone else remeber this??
