haha!:p:D
well it was a good day! mostly spent it catching up with people, and just having a gander round.
was brilliant to meet you Andrew, and to see Lisa, Matt, Andy, Becky, Kev, Colin, Shane, Yvonne, Mick, Mary, Trev, Dan, Lee, Jamie, and all the others as i've probably forgot a shocking number already!
i bought nothing but tubs! that's right, Mr Lacey...this time i didn't have armfulls of critters going home, just the three from Colin and Andy:p

in addition to the show, i spent Saturday hanging out with Becky and Kevin, and saw both their collections. Becky's got some really nice spiders, especially the Aphonopelma's and Pamphobeteus. really nice!
Kevin has an amazing selection of different colour morphs of Boa constrictors. lovely creatures! particularly liked the Arabesque, though they managed to stop me nicking her! d'oh!
Kev's spiders were great too, and i loved the fasciculata. definitely hoping they get bred and established in the hobby.

Kevin and Becky also took photos of five of my lot, and so i'll hopefully post those up in the pic section soon:D

Yeah but Scotland is a different country . If we are playing that game we could say that Icelanders were northerners .

See you Jimmy!!!!

Well as always was a tiny show but still, good for socialising and i picked up my spiders i had booked :D

Lisa Baines

Aye it was great to mingle with everyone, shame there wasn't more variety in the livestock. Fell in love with the heterometrus swammerdammi on martin goss' stall, magnificent looking thing... if you like scorps!
And I bought my 2nd tarantula... a little pokie regalis, looks so sweet being so small :)

However our kids absolutely LOVED the thai stick insects (green beans with eyes!) Our daughter has got one out every night since we got back! And plans to freak all her class mates out on 'show & tell' day.

James it was great to see you and Mary and other faces that i couldnt put a name to, I only picked up some Cockroaches and Mandy my daughter brought a load of Stick insects, we did not see much of Colin this time he was helping out (as usual bless him) with sexing Ts and general running about, but being not too far away we get chance of seeing each other every now and then. We had to cut our visit short anyway as Mandy started to feel unwell (this bug thats a round i think) and was quiet poorly by the time we got home. I agree there as a lot less livestock this time but the cold weather had put several traders off as the long time on the road worries some i have spoken to about thier charges and the cold . But they will be at the next one I think it is in June. Mary I know that you got highjacked to cover for Lee for a while and i was hoping to have a little time to catch up but maybe next time.

James Box
10-12-08, 10:13 AM
well Yorkshire is north of me currently, so they remain northerners!! haha
though that definition than makes Mary a northerner too! lol

yeah hard to catch up with everyone properly at shows, but beats nothing!
poor Colin, never a minute to hisself!
and poor Mary drafted, without pay i'm sure lol!

but was still a fun time!

and you're right about that H swammerdami, Lisa...it is a pretty impressive scorpion!

Lisa Baines

Yeah that was me. wanted to try and get a breeding pair but was going to prove difficult. So I just opted for 2 colourforms :)

Who was lady stood behind me then in the burger van queue? James can you shed any light. I remember talking to her husband (I presume, you never know these days!) about eating take aways and I over heard her saying she was pairing up with one of Torran's tarantulas.

Looking forward to the next show. I doubt I'll make BTS Expo '09 as its the same weekend as my sons birthday. Maybe Newark or Leeds again next year. I've told my wife she'll have to come next time. Hopefully she may see how loveley the desert scorpions are aswell as the beuty that is the rcf G.rosea and perhaps let me obtain one. But I'd also like a GBB. And an A. chalcodes. And pigs will fly

I try that whenever I want anything, ranging from a cup of tea to a night out with my mates. It generally only works when money isn't involved and even then its not guaranteed.
