  • Breeding Ephebopus rufescens!

    Hello Guys!

Can anyone give some info about breeding Red skeleton tarantulas (Ephebopus rufescens). I have 1 adult female and would be interested in trying to breed this species as i think they are a beutifull looking tarantula.

P.S. I dont have a male yet so does anyone have a male and would be willing to do a 50/50 split mating?

Are these Ts quite common in the hobby as i havent seen many for sale?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi,

As with all Ephebopus spec. rufescens is easy to breed. Mating is easy & normally you will get an eggsack. Just make dont disturb ýour female too much. My experience with rufescens is that they double clutch most of the times, just like cyanognathus. Take the eggsack away after 4 weeks.

the reason why you don't see them so much is that they are being ignored by most breeders, doesn't look interesting enough & selling or giving them away is not easy. But it is indeed a lovely species.

I have 2 mature males at the moment but unfortunatly i think it is too cold for shipping, sorry. But i think there are males enough in England.

    good luck,
    alex
