  • A few more pics of Roxy...

Finally got round to taking some more pics of her...I had to "persuade" her to pose for the frontal shots by gently tapping her backside with a small(ish) paint brush and the response was she darted around to face me...after that I let her be...!

If this is the "Roxy" you mentioned in an earlier thread regarding mating then it looks (from the images) to be a Grammostola sp "Concepcion" rather than a G rosea.
Not sure if it's the image contrast or lighting but the carapace seems to show the distinct black appearence rather than the pink/salmon hue, also the leg markings seem to point towards the "concepcion" as they are quite prominrnt and contrasted against the base colour, the overall rusty red appearence of the spider also points to "concepcion" (or a very dark (well marked) RCF colour form rosea)

Any chance of an overhead shot in natural light ??

Hi Colin...I think it's more down to contrast as you can see from the pic I've just uploaded...totally different although I did have to bring the brightness up a little in PS...

It was taken with natural light behind me but turned out a bit dull and her colours really didn't look anything like she does in reality so I've adjusted as best I can to show how she really looks...think this is a better pic to say for sure if she's G. rosea (RCF) or Grammostola sp "Concepcion"

As much as ID'ing a spider from a image isn't 100%, i'd say that it's looking very RCF from that last picture. It still has the look of "Conception" with leg markings and the fovea seems very dark to me.
I would be best to have a correct ID made before any breeding attempts are made, If you want to send a moult off to get a more accurate species ID that would be a good start to your looking for a suitable male in the future. (i'll have a look if you wish, just PM for my address)
