  • Substrate

Hi guys. It’s been a while since I last visited the BTS site, so it’s good to be back.

I have a question regarding my substrate that I am using for my Mexican Red Knee. Recently, she has started to do a lot of climbing to the top of her enclosure and fallen off a couple of times, once landing onto her water dish. She is 5 1/2 years old and still growing. The substrate is the normal Coco Bark type, and I am considering topping up the substrate to a deeper level, giving the spider a less height to fall from. Can I use fresh new substrate on top of what is already in the enclosure, or do I have to completely remove the existing substrate ? The existing substrate is roughly 2 months old. Thanks guys.
