  • Boehmei or Bicoloratum

How do you tell the difference between a Brachypelma Boehmei and a Aphonopelma Bicoloratum, as they look almost identical

    hi
When you look at the comparison pic you will see how easy they are to tell apart.
to keep it easy, colour of the legs in boehmei are more red / dark orange where as bicolor is a more rusty colour, you will also notice B.boehmei has longer hairs on the legs (and will more readily kick hairs) also note the shape of the carapace, in bohemei it's more rounded and flat with some dark shading where as bicolor it's more oval with the the front being more raised and defined. Also the boehmei in the pic is a large juvenile where as the bicolor is an adult female, with an adult female boehmei it would be of a much stockier build than bicolor.. hope that kind of explains it

    regards
