  • Bts expo 2008 pics

    Hello Hello,
so glad I went to the expo. It was brilliant. I was a bit dissapointed with the amount of Tarantula species but all the other insects made up for this I suppose.
I got myself 2 new species of praying mantis, went way over my budget but feel I didn't get enough pots and containers now, lol...

Managed to turn up as the lectures were starting which was brilliant. Practically empty expo for the hour I was there. !0 minutes before that I was thinking it would take me a long time to get from stall to stall, I reckon I turned up at the best time

So here are some pics for those of you who couldn't make it :

Enjoy ! I am really amazed at my "photographer's" skill. She took some brilliant pictures, fraid not that many of the T's though cause she hates em lol.

As far as I can remember I got the top bohemi. Was looking at leg length as an indication of sex but now that I've got it home and had alook at her underside under a lamp I'm not too sure, would be typical if I got it wrong..

Anyway, here are my new additions:

Got a load of new pots:

New heatmat and bigger "box" for my insects, decided to get a much more powerful heatmat so that i didn't have to cover up the "box" to retain heat, is now fully visible :

an old fish tank has come handy as a new home:

    my male orchid mantis:

    my female orchid mantis:

    acromantis formosana:

got a few pseudocreobotra wahlbergii too:

and finally my newest tarantula addition.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't have the money to buy this one but I was thinking, I've come to a tarantula exhibition, I can't leave without a Tarantula!!

So here we go, I finally own a brachypelma bohemi :

Very nice photos. The mantis with the smaller one on its back was great, I kept going back to look at it, it was just so cute to have a miniature one riding on the bigger one

Good pictures Tom, shame we never got to meet, i did ask a few people if they'd seen you around, a few pointed me in a direction that you had drifted off from.

Shame you didn't make it Michael, twas a good one as you can see.

The pede's a horrible, leggy, bitey one ....like they all are.....not for me at all

yeah colin, I was looking out for you, had very few faces in my head , having met nobody on here yet really, but didn't spot you.

I didn't stay long at all and was engrossed in the Insects the first 10 minutes I was there, then the lecture started and the whole hall became deserted. We were quite happy about this as we could zoom through all the stands without any hassle.

Not much time for meeting people. I know I spotted louise but it didn't click at the time.
I will be saying hello next year.

Hopefully to alot more. I'll have to go by myself next time, was cool to have my friends along but they didn't want to stay
