  • Spiderday! (new babies!) :D

    Friday was SPIDERDAY!
Had 5 slings arrive in the post, 3 Thrixopelma Pruriens and 2 Brachypelma Emilia.
Sadly, one of the Pruriens had died en route, poor little mite
    But the rest are fine!

Brachypelma Emilia, this is the teeny tiniest little T I had ever seen!
(The mesh is about 1mm squares)

Thrixopelma Pruriens, and I thought the Emilia were teeny tiny!
    (same 1mm squared mesh!)

      Cuteness just got even cuter!
Fruit flies arrived today (annoying things!) so I decided to feed them...

Here is a teeny weeny Emilia with a mouthful of fruit fly

AND!!! One of my Pruriens has moulted already!!

The moult (scale rule showing 1cm)

We have some slings as small as that at the moment.
They look so fragile and delicate and aww so cute n defenceless.... then you throw food in! Instant predator! NOM!

          nice one!
you'll be pleased to know the pruriens don't stay tiny for all THAT long
as for emilia...you may be needing fruit flies for a while

My B. Smithi was the same size when I got Him/her. Its been 7 months now but s/he is looking great with all the colours showing thru.
S/he shed every month for the 1st 4 months now its seems to be slowing down to every 2 months.
My T's: Grammostola rosea, 2x Brachypelma smithi, Avicularia avicularia, Theraposa blondi, Cyclosternum pentoralis, Poecilotheria metallica

Checked on them again today to find that the 2nd Pruriens has also moulted

Emilia 1 grabbed its fruit fly immediately again, but emilia 2 ran away from it again, it never ate the fruit flies I gave it last week either It has however been doing a power of terra-forming.

Freshly moulted Pruriens 2, you can see the moult to the left
(Sorry for the quality, had to take it through the tub which is isn't very clear).
