I have had my shed set-up for nearly 7 years, with only reptiles in it for the last 6.5 years. The spiders have been in it since July.
The ONLY way to keep the temperature at a reasonable level is to install an air con unit.
Mine is on 24/7 from approx April through to October.
There have been a few sunny days in the last week and with the A/C off the temps reached the upper 80's very quickly (lucky someone was in when I phoned home in a panic to turn the A/C on).
I have the A/C set to come on if the temps reach 78F and the 2KW oil filled radiator kicks in if the temps fall below 70F, usually the shed is on average about 76F. ........... Works for me
              Hiya Pete,
Sounds good but dont you get unsettled with them being in a shed away from the main house? Most nights I wake up & always go into Sony's spid room to check on the lil critters using a red toach, I see things in the tanks not seen during daylight hours! Its very interesting, I can spend 2 or 3 hours in there just watching. I make a cuppa and sit on a chair and just watch! Its great but I wouldn't like to do it middle of winter in a shed.

                Unsettled in what way ?

I had the shed originally built to house my large collection of reptiles because 'er indoors didnt want a 60-70 snakes and and a few hundred geckos in the house. I've got steel bars and mosquito mesh on the windows, re-enforced doors, security locks and and an alarm. Its warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I have a red bulb fitted through a dimmer switch so I can visit at night. I also have a radio, small fridge (summer only, for beers) stool and/or chair. It is within range of the house for WiFi internet access.
And best of all the wife doesnt like spiders so she refuses to enter it

What more could a man ask for ??

All the reptiles were sold in June/July and the shed now only has inverts

I was thinking of a really fit 20 something wearing bikini bottoms only (female of course) serving me my cold beers but i dont think the 'old dragon' would be too happy about that !!!!!

wow I'm glad I found this thread.

                          Some great pictures here.

I will add my "hot" box as I have named it.

Nothing compared to some of the collections on here but I don't really have the time to keep more.

I'd love to see other ppls set ups too.
