  • What a transformation

As most of you know I had the pleasure of viewing my first ever moult the other day. It was a real pleasure and exciting to see it happen. And to be honest, prior to the moult I started to think "are smithis really colourful?" and hence my longing for a C. cyanaepubescens. But now I'm totally smitten with me new colourful tarantula.

    Before

    After

And on Saturday or Sunday, the fattest cricket in the tub will be on the menu.

p.s. Colin, I'm not sure if this is the right section to post in, so feel free (like you need my permission!!) to move to the Pix section.
Thank you Andrew...I do like to keep things tidy if i can

he does look like a preper smithy now.

But a gbb still has more colour. Get one still!

You definetely seem to be taking care of your smithy well, you should not only have the one T :P

I think this is the stage where everyone has a smile on their face if they're bringing up a sling.
The change from "little fat spiderling to nicely proportioned "young" juvenile"

I have to agree with Tom, a second spider would go down a treat !!

        Congrats on the molt Andrew
My little smithi molted 5 days ago and went thru a similar change.
        It truly is amazing

I also think you should get the C cyaneopubescens, They are an amazing species.
Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

Arrrghhh... nice one Andrew, nice one! I can't deny however that I feel a bit more aggitated, lol! Seeing Smiffy, I really cannot wait to see Ice Cube again!
Well done again, and get another one!
Pyro the B. Auratum comes to me next week, thanks to Louise!
Andrew, if your wife decides to change her mind, do you reckon you could become a huge collector?
Li'l' Ice Cube the Brachypelma Smithi!!! (As of 13/05/08 !!) But, I'm still gonna refer to it as Ice Cube!

Thanks for the comments. A second (or third) tarantula would be nice but circumstances at the moment just do not allow it. As and when the second comes along, I only have my mind set on one species. The aforementioned GBB. Or a Poecilotheria metallica! Choices, choices

Nagging is not the way forward.

A newspaper article claiming owning one tarantula is bad luck but owning two is great luck would be

I think the cost factor has a lot to say on that choice. GBB FTW!

Definitely a nice change from generic T to B. smithi

Of course, that would work for people that applied beliefs of 'luck' to their everyday life.
I use certain expressions like 'Good Luck', but to be honest, things are never really down to luck. There is always an input that results a certain, distinguished outcome. Luck is just something that helps people relate to events and live life in a certain way.

Sorry Tom, I just like talking cr** about luck. Yes, a news article would be good!
I say, use PhotoShop. It may take some time, and definitely take knowledge/learning, but how willing are you to try something, in order for you to obtain your second tarantula, Andrew?

Lol! I swear the article (and though I had trouble reading it, and so I zoomed 200% and could make more sense of some of the words, but obviously it pixelized and I got irratated trying to read it) is irrelavant to the heading? I only got to pick up a few though words though...
I'm pretty sure I even picked up the word Navy?!
