  • Poecilotheria regalis breeding

    Our second ever breeding attempt.
Males small tank was placed in the females much larger tank overnight, with ventilation so that they could become aware of each other.

This evening, the lid was removed from the males tank to allow him out to find his mate.

He's found his way onto her log and started to drum. It's actually quite audible from here. No sign that the female has even noticed. She's not moved an inch yet.

Female responds with bobbing her body up and down in reply. She's climbed to the top of her web and it's all going good so far.

He got one insertion, and is still alive. Looks like he's going for a second. Still drumming away.

Female shows no more interest and runs away. Male has been recovered alive from the females tank. Looking at his palps, two insertions were achieved.
And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.
