  • Feeding my little one

I'm new to keeping T's I have a Red Rump it's about 2 cm I'm slightly confused about how much I should feed it. I have read lot's of web sites some say you cannot give them to much food as they will only eat what they want and others say you can give them to much! I have been feeding it every day with 2 small crickets, sometimes it eats both staight away other times it eats 1 then leaves the other for later. Am I giving it to much?

Also when should I start feeding it larger crickets?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nick,

    Welcome to the BTS forum

You can't over feed them....they will eat and eat, to a point, after which they may stop for while. So don't be surprised if and when this happens. Many people like to feed younger t's as much as they will take in an attempt to make them grow quicker

As for food type, a general guide is not to go any larger than the size of the carapace.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

        No probs.

And if you think a feeder is too big, then you could always 'prekill' or disable it in some way (crush head, remove jumping legsetc.). May sound a little barbaric....but they're gonna die anyway.
