I cant post a pic sorry because its a bit on the shy side its under a cork bark and it means destroying its habitat which i dont want to do since its only just settled down and got used to the surroundings.
I bought a tarantula on the 29/3/2006 and it was sold under a name as Borneo Black Tarantula i'm just wondering if it is a Haplopelma Minax it is black all over no markings on it. Has anyone got any info on 1. Thrixopelma Pruriens common name Peruvian Green Velvet or Peru Striped 2. Ceratogyrus Brachycephalus common name Rhino Horned Baboon or Greaterhorned Baboon 3. Hysterocrates Gigas.

Were did you by this spider from? I suspect minax but the Borneo bit is strange as they are not found there.

Might be what is being call Lampropelma nigerrimum does it have a ornage fringe to the carapace?

Well Mark i thought it was a Minax but its got a some sort of coloured fringe round its carapace so must be a Lampropelma nigerrimum thats helpful, as for where i bought it from it was a pet shop in Manchester
i get most of my t's from there unless i swap them i go to another shop in Manchester but where i got the Borneo Black Tarantula from i trust them, just they didnt know what species it was but thats helpful thanks.

Here is a picture of what is suspected to be Lampropelma nigerrimum, taken on a field trip we did in 2004, to Sarawak in Borneo by my good friend Paul.

Does your spider look like this? Can you post me a picture of your new spider? However like I said it’s just a tentative ID. You can't ID from images just guess.

Mark just been to shop and they said they are not convinced its an orange fringed because if it was they would of put the price up and had a look at the price list where they got it from and it had Haplopelma doriae ?. But they said they was getting another 1 in tomorrow and i'm wondering whether to get it for same price.

Original imports of these were labeled Lampropelma nigerrimum/Haplopelma doria, the lampropelma label is yet un proven hence the ? before the name on the picture.

Mark after close examination of this supposed Orange Fringed ive come across orange hairs coming out of its carapace all round it, now after
looking at that website you sent me and reading what was on it, i am 98%
convinced what it is now and the shop does'nt unless ive alerted them of it
now lol but think they think im think at times.

Hi folks, permit me to gloat, I bought one this evening and was made a present of another one, I have a sub adult male and female. They are nice spiders, not very colourful, mostly black with orange as your picture, we have taken photos of them and I have put them on other forums. If it had not been for this thread I probably have said no when asked if I wanted to buy one.

I think ive started a craze off now lol, Ive had a look at the other Borneo Black in shop it looks like its dying because of cold weather but they say they are getting another one in for next week if weather is ok.
