  • Another molting question.

I recently lost my Poecelotheria Fasciata to a bad molt. I realise that different spider have different habits but after emerging fom its carapace, all of its legs remaind firmly attatched inside the old spider. It lay on it's back for three days emerging no further and with no movement whatsoever. There was absolutely no chance of me releasing it although I did try. Eventually I euthenised her in the freezer. Did I leave her long enough before giving up? I have other spiders which have molted without any problems.
I also own a very fat and healthy looking Aphonopelma Seemanni. I would say she is quite young with a legspan of about 75mm. I have owned her for over a year in which time she has eaten once and NEVER molted. As I said, she looks healthy enough. When should I expect her to molt as it seems like a long time to me. especially as my B Smithi has molted three times since I've owned her?

Now my B Smithi is a different story John. Any food dropped in her tank rarely even reaches the floor before its snapped up!

Congratulations, those colours look beautiful! This is one species I'm hoping to get from this years BTS show.
