Thanks everyone, now I am moving in the right direction at least.

The spider seems more settled in the tupperware box, moving about in the open and not using the "retreat" as yet. Obviously the proximity of the lid gives them a feeling of protection?

I'll try feeding it again in a few days.

The rehousing advice seems to have paid off, the spider has now eaten 2 crickets on consecutive days and is very active around the box.

It seems to be standing with it's body as high off the floor as possible, and is very actively hair flicking every time I go near the lid, whereas before it was laying low down and was very docile.

Things are going from good to better, the T is on a cricket a day and I have only had to remove one set of waste "chitin" (sp?), so it has a healthy appetite.

I cleaned out it's "sandwich box home" today which led to a situation where I had to hold the spider whilst my daughter carried out a couple of minor mods. I understand that the BTS don't recommend handling Tarantula's but I must say that it seemed quite happy on the hand and had to be actively "encouraged off" when the work was done.

As I live relatively local to the exhibition, I think I will try to get a good informative book there tomorrow?

Yup, should be a fair few books for sale.

Best bet is to get a BTS membership though, you'll have access to a goldmine of information.
