  • how often should i feed (Lasiodora parahybana)??

hi i have recently purchased a Lasiodora parahybana spiderling it is about 7cm across at the moment .
i was after any advice anyone could give on feeding this spider he has been eating 2/3 small crickets a day and would eat more if they were given to it, should i be feeding less or more.
the crickets are caught and eaten soon as they are placed in with the spider .
i have read these spiders have a huge appetite and i want to be sure i am doing the right thing.
thanks for any help and advice given
    thanks red*knee*tattoo.

Well, on one hand, it's impossible to overfeed them, they'll stop eating once they are full.

but on the other, they'll grow faster, and possibly live shorter, so you'll shorten the lift span. Potentially it might put stress on the spider too??

My slings are fed 3 times a week until they get to about 1.5", then it's once a week along with all the bigger ones.
And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.

Hi red knee, I agree with Neil, however I have found this species can be very hungry.I've recently raised a sling to adulthood and given the opportunity it would eat all the time so I space it out to twice a week.3 times a week when it was a juvenile/sling.My L, para does seem to have a strict pattern it feeds constanly till about a month before it's moult then fast's and moults. I do vary it's diet it has the occasional pink which this species love.Locust's and crix being it's main staple.

        cheers Mike.
