  • slow movers?

    Hello again.
You may get sick of me soon cause I will have loads of q's for you all!!
Anyway , this one is I have been looking into other starter t's if the red knee is difficult to get hold of. Was looking at curly hair and mexican red rump although some write ups say these are aggressive and fast.

So it may be a chile rose if not a red knee. Are these slow movers? When i had mine it moved a a snails pace (when it actually decided to move!)

    Thanks again

    Hi
B Smithi are not all that hard to get hold of . Look in the bulitin board on this site and the for sale parts of other tarantula forums.
B albopilosum ( curly hairs ) are not that skitish neither are vagans ( red rumps) they are not quite as docile as smithi but a skitish smithi will out kick a docile vagans or albop so the choice of any of them would not make a great difference. Vagans do grow faster though.

you can get hold of B Smithi spiderlings of:

TheSpiderShop.co.uk is a specialist supplier and breeding facility for all things Arachnid based in West Wales. Available mail order

Thats if you are looking for spiderlings, if your looking for adults ( 5cm+ ) they might have some they might not but if you ask they might be able to get hold of one for you.

      Hope this helps

        HI
        Thanks for the replies.
So are the b.smithi known as more of a slow mover as mine used to be.
I have read that some species move very quickly and like to escape when opening their housing and dont want this as a beginner to it all.

          charlene,

You should not be too worried about the movment and speed of it i have keep one and it was fine, just has calm as B albopilosum.
b.smithi is in the top 5 best first tarantulas and is one of the best to handle, Next to B albopilosum and Grammostola rosea.
Dont worry, every tarantula can move fast, but if you are calm with it it will be back.
