  • White mites!

Today I noticed 2 tiny white mites in the water bowl of my G.Rosea. But I cannot see any actually on her?
Is this a big problem? Is it any danger to her?
If so, what can I do about it?

Im no expert but I would change the water. Small mites could be a problem for the spiders booklung system.

Changed the water, that goes without saying.
No irregular behaviour from her though.
Had a good handling session earlier, she was really playful! (seems to have come out of the psycho stage!)

Shes been grroming herself quite a lot, but she always has done. Tank is ever so slightly moist with good airflow and no remains of food lying around, she looks perfectly healthy?

Is it anything to worry about?
Myabe increase the heat slightly so that the mites emigrate to the water and just clean it out regularly?

I have a G rosea and I have been told that as a desert species the tank should be kept really dry, with just a water bowl and no misting at all.

I also dont have a heat mat either as our house is kept quite warm as we have a young baby.

I mean to say, its ever so slightly moist BECAUSE im expecting a molt soon, is this moistness causing the problem?

Yea mine is also expecting a molt, yet I was still told to keep it dry. I suppose the question is should we increase humidty in the run up to a molt?

              possibly not.
Hopefully someone with a bit of experience with Gramostolla Spp. can shed some light.

I just presumed it would make it easier for her.
Only had her for 8 months and havent had a molt yet, so I dont know.

Maybe increasing the humidity for a shed is an idea that came from the reptile keeper inside of me!

I just mist mine slightly about every 2 weeks or so, they don't like it wet at all.
