  • neglected poecilotheria regalis

does any body else just wanna hurt someone really bad when they se the results of neglect because i do.

i went to my local petshop yesterday and dont worry the pet shop keeps all its stock very well fed and watered, just incase any body thought it was one of those pet shops that dont have the foggiest.
well ne way some one had given them a p.regalis and the woman who works there asked me for my advice which made me feel special if i do say so ne way the t looked in a really bad way it hadnt had water in months and the substrate hadnt seen water since the bowl had.
the t's back legs were scrunched under its body like when t's die but we submerged its prosoma into a water dish with fresh water in it and you could see the water level going diown as it was gulping we ensured that its booklungs didmnt enter the water by means of a piece of slate and its condition improved over a few hours we also raised the humidity level lots in order to help the t recover im going down today to see if its condition is any better and may squish a cricket and present it to the t to try and encourage to eat also the t had been fed locusts twice its size which were also used to feed a bearded dragon.

guess why this t was treated so badly.......

because they were scared of it well if u ask me id kick there a** and id do the same to the person that sold them it for being so ignorant towards the ts welfare and for not checking with the purchaser wether they had any idea of what they were buying.

I hate people that dont look after animals it makes me sick, sad to hear that it died after neglect I think that the laws should be tougher on animal cruelty
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

"Specialist" animals such as T's should not be sold by "common or garden" petshops. As elitist as it might be, sale of animals such as these and other exotics should not be available other than through recognised breeders and some form of "vetting" needs to be done on prospective purchasers. Unfortunately all the while people see stunning exotics and think "Ooh that's nice" and buy it without the first idea of the care it needs, situations such as the one you described will continue to occur. A garden centre near me has a pet department which is well run, but I was dismayed that they could get me a Green Tree Python without them knowing what its captive requirements were or without asking me if I knew. Similarly, anothe Pet "superstore" in peterborough had a vivarium with numerous species of frogs in together, one of which had a staple diet consisting of........frogs! There was also a dead Cuban tree Frog which was growing mould in the tank!!
It's just a shame the Pokie didn't give the cretin a good bite before it was shunted off to the petshop.
Why can't anyone call me "Sir", without adding "Will you please leave"?

          rant

Now that we are having a bit or rant:
One of the local pet shops that i have visited, always tries to use "sun newspaper" scare tactics to sell animals
one i asked them if i could see some of the spiders (the have them in tubs) so he opened the tubs when moving closer to see he would say oh dont come any closer this species if very dnagerous (normal species like green botlle blue) like it was going to zap me with his laser eyes.
Here we are trying to explain to people that the animals that we keep, when treated with normal respect, are actually quiet harmless and intersting and they are trying to spread fear.
          Really pisses me off.

seeing as were on about petshops I feel I should contribute the other day I went to get a Mexican red knee spiderling, in there favor they did ask me if I had any over Ts but when I said yes that was enough for them after buying it and taking it home I realised that she was too small to eat the small crickets that I had so I rang up and asked if they had pin head crickets "no sorry we dont stock pinhead crickets" I thought so you sell the spiderling but not the correct food surley this isnt right in the end I had to drive 20miles to another petshop to buy them
