  • My sling/juve ate a wooly bear!

When I buy my crickets I always seem to find a wooly bear in with them. These are larvae of carpet beetles or similar i belive, and Im not sure how they get in with the crix, but I put a couple in with my T, along with a cricket or two.
As soon as i put it in it buroowed out of sight so i thought, well thats that then. But later in the day I saw my little Rosea holding one betwen its jaws!
Greedy get had 2 crix s well! Shes growing!

Be careful doing that Larry, as beetle larvae (like crickets) will quite happily attack your sling if it happens to moult when they're in there, possibly fatally wounding it. I would suggest that if you put them in, crush their heads so that they can't burrow.

I always get those in my cricket tubs I was wondering what they were and how they got there
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I think you'll find it might Larry

If they're hungry, most T's will eat almost anything edible to them, live or dead.. raw lean meat, defrosted pinkie mice, dead crix etc..

I routinely feed very small slings and smaller spiders on bits of things. My C. elegans spiderling seems particularly fond of cricket legs at the moment!

Personally I'd rather not risk damage to my spiders, because most of them seem to be moulting overnight out of spite lately!
