  • Unusual Activity

    Hey there guys,

Well ive had my spider (Grammastola Rosea) for nearly two weeks now, its been feeding fine and being active, until this morning i woke up to found lots of coir mixed with web (like a mixture of the two) had been pushed out of her cork bark retreat and also his retreat had been webbed up? any ideas why? i havent seen her feed in a few days so maybe this could be a moult?

Im unsure if to remix the coir and remove the webbing because now the bottom of the cage where she has pushed coir from is bare with no substrate.

    Thanks,

    Josh,

It sounds like it has rolled up its webbing as they sometimes do.
Often, they will spin a mat of silk where they spend most of their time (or possibly just when feeding). Periodically they will roll this webbing up and push it to one corner of their enclosure. A spider version of cleaning up

Josh, the other possibility if she's blocked herself inside the retreat is that she may be approaching a molt, I personally wouldn;t offer food again until she opens the web & shows herself.
