  • L.Klugi moulting

I saw my L. Klugi last night come out of its burrow. It has moulted again and is bigger and darker but is happily hogging its shed skin in its burrow (I can see it through the glass side of the jar).
Do members of this species feed on their cast off skin? (it seems to make sense I guess).
I haven't seen my S.crassipes for weeks, even late at night, but the crickets are dissapearing and the earth is being reshaped so I assume it's OK (there is no rotting smell either).

It's common for tarantulas to 'chew' their cast skin - the abdomen area is very wet after a moult and the spider will use this as a valuable source of moisture after the traumatic process of moulting.

On the other hand, they chew the skin to prevent us from sexing them from their skin!
