  • not a t but....

my partner came home from work one day with a spider he found in somebodys attic.
After hours of scanning the internet he thinks it might be a S. Nobilis.
I thought it was kind of intresting with the three different colors on the abdomen and it's web structure is a tangle web.
it's been happily living in a pot with a bit of everything in it {peat, stones, twigs} as we didnt really know what to do with it.

Looks Alot like Steatoda bipunctata, I think the common name is the Rabbit hutch spider (not that it eats rabbits of course ) they usually have a little more of a median line but ive seen a few variants in colour, they make very interesting spiders to keep and make beautifull tangle webs, and will take fairly large crickets,Ive kept them in wooden boxes with perspex fronts with holes in to allow water (rolled up cotton wool poked into the hole and kept moist) and food i see them as the UK's answer to the black widow or red back as they are most similar in habit. Worth keeping and studying for a while eh..

      thankyou for the reply.
Being a False widow i'm assuming that the venom isn't that bad
Must agree it's a nice little spider
