The T I inherited from my son has covered all the tank with web then covered it with the peat( well I presume its peat, it comes in discs and my son said something about soaking it before it goes in thetank) The water dish has leaked and all of the peat is wet and has been like it for a few days, the tank is starting to smell musty, I had taken the heat pad off as the temperature was good but since this water spill I have put the tank back on the mat. Should I remove all the wet peat(which is nearly all of it?) If I have to replace it what do I do with these discs of it. Sorry to be always asking but I am really trying to do everything right with her. Im getting over the feeding bit as I think its great watching her stalk, pounce and kill the crickets. By the way is it possible to overfeed her as I find it hard waiting for feeding time again, its getting where I have fed her one cricket everyday for a few days now. I think this is a great site and really appreciate all the help everyone gives. Thanx x

the discs are coconut fibre peat(coir) the best way to dry it out would be to transfer the T into another container while you dry its tank out.
you will only need to feed it 3-5 crickets a week, i usually feed mine 2 crickets twice a week(tuesday and thursday).
i hope this helps

Hi Carole,
Not been keeping up to date, did she moult?
i would put the mat on the side of the tank, and let the tank dry our, spiders tend to get wet in the rainy season, and especially for some of the Chilean species when the snow starts to melt...............nope that is not a joke.
2-3 crickets a week is ample,
Ray

I had a similar experience when I re-housed my Chile Rose into wetted coir. It was far too wet for her and she wasn't happy. So I put her in a temp. Tank and dried out her home on the radiator overnight. It was still too wet next day so I put it in the microwave for 2 minutes which sorted it out.
