  • A. Geniculata

Im currently looking to buy a A. Geniculata Juv.
Can anyone give me an idea of the going rate? TBH I havent a clue when it comes to the cost of T's. The 3 I've got so far all came from local shops.

    Thanks in advance

havent seen any juvies but the tarantula-shop has some
    slings for £4.
i have one and love it, they grow quickly too.

well worth getting some slings and bringing them up your self.

    'A Woman's Prayer:
Dear Lord, I pray for: Wisdom, To understand a man , to Love and to forgive him , and for patience, For his moods. Because Lord, if I pray for Strength I'll just beat him to death'

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning thats as good as their going to feel all day.

Cheers Dee, I have seen the slings, and a good price too. Im still unsure of bringing T's up from slings. Although I did see some excellent containers today that would be ideal.

I have been offered a couple via my ad on the BTS Bulletin Board so we'll what comes of them.

      Cheers

I've not dealt with the Tarantula Shop myself but if they're like other invert' dispatchers then they may wait until Thurs or Fri to post so the animals arrive on Saturday when most people are not at work and so are able to take delivery.
I have a Geniculata (just short of fully adult) myself and find she's a fantastic animal, always willing to feed and active throughout the whole day, the night she spends stringing webs everywhere. you'll be happy with yours i'm sure.

For reference i paid £40 for a 5 year old, 4" legspan female at the Kettering invert show in 2005.

She's 8" now and heavily gravid

lol and to think I've arranged for it to be delivered to my work address!!! Looks like I'll be doing some over time just incase....

I am really looking forward to recieving my new Slings after watching some of the Vids on youtube of the A. Geniculata.
Its only a week since getting my A. Seemanni. On the second night She/He 'Jacy Bee' (do you see what I did there!) dug out the most amazing burrow. In ONE night, it had even dragged up all the substrate and spread it around the tank....

I struck very lucky with my Geni, paid £20 for her including a nice bit of cork bark about a month ago, local pet shop owner had swapped her in for something or other and wanted rid as he doesn't want to get into inverts and arachs, just reptiles.

Oh and Mike, your boss will love you with the overtime, don't tell him it's because of the "T", say it's for the love of the job

                    Good question,

Also on thespidershop they're selling A. Chacoana slings for £4, Bolivian Red Rump is a common name, and to me they are simply beautifal.

Suffice to say I'll be making a purchase on Monday.

I got my B Boehmei from thespidershop.co.uk and have to say the service was excellent, Lee's a good guy.

                    Good luck with the Geniculata!
All those legs and not a pair of shoes in sight... Nice tarsus tho...

Cheers Robert, my slings arrived at work on Tuesday. The G. Aureostriata is managable but Im sooo suprised at how small the A. Geniculata is!!! It fed on the second night, I just hope I dont kill'em..... I'll be much relaxed when they've gone through a couple of moults and are a bit bigger.

Im now looking for another T... Theres no hope is there??!! I quite fancy something a bit higher up the defensive scale, and as such am considering either a P. Murinus or a H. Lividum.

A bit OT but my Premoult Rosea ate some crickets today!!! I was convinced with the lack of appetite and her abdomin turning darker that she was in premoult, I guess not!!!

Enjoy the sling, I'll be ordering my A.Chacoana on Monday, and perhaps a B Albopilosa too...

I have owned an a. geniculata sling for somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 months. In that time it has gone from one inch to three inches on two crickets per week. Fast growing, a voracious eater, and nearly always in view. Fantastic species.

I must admit I'll be relieved when it reaches 1.5" leg span. its really quite hard to believe when they're this small that they reach 8" legspan!!!

It won't take long, believe me. I have also found that mine must feed while in pre-moult, because it took down and ate a cricket 3 days before its last moult in January. You will find there is quite a size increase after moults as well.
