    Understandable.

You mentioned in your first post that you caught your first Tarantula on your Grandparents property, what species was it may I ask?

It wasn't identified by a qualifed theraphosid spider taxonomist And no photo survives for the pentax-onomists Based on location, we can guess that it was Aphonopelma baergi. Or whatever current wisdom would call the northwestern Arkansas form of the greater Aphonopelma hentzi complex.

      Kind regards, Michael

I began so long ago I cant remember when. I do recall going into a pet shop with my then girlfriend Angela (now my wife of 24years). Staring at me was a Chile Rose. I had to have it. £4.99 late and I was the proud owner of Incy Wincy much to my mothers horror. I visited Granby Halls some years later and met a lovely lady called Ann Webb who was running the BTS Stand. We got chatting and we joined the BTs there and then. I soon "volunteered" to run the show after the shambles at The Birmingham Nature Centre ( If anyone recalls that disaster ) and the rest is history. This year is my 15th year as organiser and you know what.....I cant wait.

PS toward the end of her life my mother learned to love my pets and even took them to see her friends at the old folks club.
PPS Incy Wincy only died in 2004. I like to think that somewhere my old mom has her in a tank.
Still Crazy After All these years.

You married Angela when she was only 5 years old?
