Hello.
My name is Robin Johannessen.
I live in Norway, are 23 years old, and very fond of spiders

I`m new to this forum, but not to the hobby.
I have kept Tarantulas for about six to seven years.My first tarantula was a Grammostola rosea,my second and third 1xAvicularia versicolour and 1xHaplopelma lividum.

After a little while I had to get rid of my A.versicolour and H.lividum, since I moved, and was uncertain if the circumstances could be harmful to them.(moving them in norwegian winter weather, down to -20 celsius/-4 Fahrenheit)

For some years, I just had my little rosie girl, that slowly increased in size.
About 2 years ago, I decided to get myself some new T`s, by now, I have 19, and are waiting for 6 more to arrive '

I`m very fond of the tree dwelling species, and the terrestrial/burrowing species with a bit of a attitude/manners poblem :P

This is me playing with "Tigergutt" or in English "Tigerboy"


One thing I realy enjoy, is to create naturalistic enclosures, or at least try to.

The things I have typed in bold, is from local stores, and friends.
The moss and the peat I have collected from the nature

And I think that sholuld be it.

The maintaining part, is ok. Only the P.regalis enclosure can be a pain in tha ..., because it`s so fast and unpredictable.
Actually, the Cyriopagopus, has showed itself more frequent after I changed it to this enclosure

Firstly, FANTASTIC set ups!

I am a huge fan of naturalistic tanks, i guess this comes from my love of Dart Frogs.

Its a shame theres not a few more set ups like this! Well done!

Robin, maybe you could post a step by step guide on how you put your tanks together. This will show us all how much work goes in to creating a naturalistic set up!

I do have a couple of questions though if i may?

1. You use alot of Moss in your set ups which holds alot of water. Have you ever found that you have to much humidity from it?

2. With so many places for crickets to hide, aand possibly die before being eaten. Have you ever had problems with mites from uneaten food items?

First I will answer your questions, then I will try to make the guide :P

1.Acctualy, I never get problems with to much humidity, except for my Chromatopelma cyaneopubecens tank, and my scorp tank. To solve the problem, I only use peat/sand mix and artificial plants. Booring, but better than to risk their lives.

2.I very seldom feed crickets to my animals. Usually i use cockroaches to adult spiders, and mealworms,superworms,waxworms and maggots to feed my slings/juveniles.

I always crush the head of the worms with a tweezer when i feed slings/juveniles. The adult spiders, I "hand-feed" with a tweezer.
