    Haplopelma lividum enclosure

This is how I made my Haplopelma lividum enclosure:
First off, I try to figure out in what kind of landscape the tarantula come from. When I have done that, I usually search the web for pictures from that area. If I see something I like, I try to reconstruct a little part of it, into my enclosure.

This time, I decided to use an old root my stepfather made me some years ago.

I think this root is perfect, since it`s hollow, and has many entrances/exits.

Usually I use enclosures with doors infront, but becasue the H.lividum likes alot of sybstrate, I decided to use one with the lid above.

To moisten the peat, i add water and peat into a suitable tank, and leave it in for about 15-30 minutes. Then i squeeze the peat until it`s free of superfluous water.(Hard work!!)

Here, alomst the entire enclosure is filled with peat, except where the root is. I also have stuffed all the holes in the root.

Then, I added a little plant with unknown name :P

Then,I cover almost all the ground space with moss and add some pices of leaves and other suitable details.

    Time to add a spider

Looking around in it`s new home, still a little bit skeptic

    overview

The glass behind the enclosure with the inscription "Aass", is a Norwegian beerbrand.

Time for a little update again

This time I will try to make a decent enclosure for my A.geniculata

        Mixing some peat and water

        The "ingredients"

I always makes "peat balls". Try to squeeze out the redundant water.

Adding a root and alot of peat to the enclosure

Still trying to keep real plants alive in my enclosures :P

        With moss added

        Trowed in some leaf

        Background

        Spider moving in

        Still a little nervous

caught hwer on tape while removing some dirt from her new home

Before my computer crashed, I had a live Scorpion (Mesobuthus martensii) cam ..
It was just a test project. The plan was to install it in one of my "active T`s" enclosure :P

That would be well gd if you had that running...you could have it running from evening to the morning coz T's are most active then and it would save the electric bill.... Only an idea...
