I may be getting old or maybe even loosing the plot but....................

There seems to be a new trend of listing the species people keep as their signature message? I am not exactly sure why people feel in neccessary to tell every one else what they have, but again probably put this down to my age - I was 35 last week.

Perhaps we should also start a campaign for real Signature messages as well as real names?

I've no idea Jay,
In a way it's usefull as you can see what people have got so you have a common frame of reference with the species they keep and ask specie relevent questions. (i suppose)
In early reptile forum days (i'm 44 this year so this was when dinosaurs roamed the earth) it was a way of "showing off" if you had a particularly rare species or a DWA. (i must admit i was once tempted to put Boiga dendrophila melanota (mangrove snake) as part of my signature, but i thought I know i've got it, who else REALLY needs to know) I don't think that's relevant here as all spiders are really available to everyone (in general).

At the end of the day a signature is everyone's individual way of putting a point across, humorous, informative or profound.

signature messages

I listed mine on another chatroom for the reason above, to help as a common reference frame. Now I don't bother because a) if people want to know they'll ask and b) I don't particularly want to advertise my collection. Its ok when you start, its like being part of a club and that's great. For some reason though that phase seems to pass and now I'm trying to figure out how to successfully get an egg sack out of one of the little ones. Oh and when it comes to songs for us middle aged, I much profer Status Quo to Mary Poppins musicals (nothing personal).

I know, I'm only teasing. I've only got 24 myself but another one arriving next week. I could have more but space to put them is an issue and I'm really more interested in getting breeding partners for the ones I've got currently. So if you know of anyone selling a male Pterinochilus murinus UMV or a male Avicularia metallica, please let me know! (pretty soon that list will grow).

Apparently it's only the last sentence and part of the second to last that appear in the bible. So i was informed by a religous fanatic friend of mine. thought i'd check and see if he was right on the web and from what i read...he is.
Doen't spoil the impressive charactor portrayed by mr Jackson though eh?
