  • Arboreal Tank

I've done a quick search and couldnt really find the answer, so can anyone recomend an online store that I could get a suitable tank for an arboreal T from. Somewhere that accepts paypal since I have some cash sat in my paypal account.

I know about custom aquaria, but they dont have a website, or deal online.

    Cheers

    Arboreal Tank

    Hi Mike

I don't know if any of these will be of any help but these a few of the places I have visited recently which all have different kinds of tanks.
It might be worth a try having a look, don't know about paypal tho.

Actually Vivbuilder wasnt too bad, and a quick reply!!! £30 + delivery. Thats for a 10" by 10" and 18" tall with ventilation and front opening, does that seem about the right dimentions for a pokie or Avic??

                arborial tanks.

                Mike!
look on this site's links and go to the spider shop. They have Exo-Terra tanks which are the best ones you can get for arborials. Failing that look up 'Faunology' on google. they also do the Exo-Terra ones but they do the really big ones as well. They also accept paypal and the delivery service is excellent from both these places.

Vivbuilder are great, i never thought of suggesting them before! Sorry Mike!

They can build to suit any requirement and will happily offer heating solutions etc. I will be contacting them for a cabinet requirement of my own. I will let you know the outcome.

Thanks for all the replys. Nicola, I have 2 of the small (12x12x12) exo terras for my B. smithi and G. rosea and do love the tanks, and considered getting the 12x12x18 one for an arboreal but thought it may be too big?? But looking again at the cost of getting one built the exo terra would work out a fiver cheaper if you take into account delivery costs.

So what are peoples opinions on the Exo Terras for arboreals, either the 12x12x12 or 12x12x18.....

Cant beat a good old fashioned 'FREE' sweet jar from the local sweetshop/newsagent .. best to empty it first though
Could be fun emptying the Jar!! I've sort of looked into Jars, dont you find the top only access a bit restricting?
Saying that I saved a coffee Jar yesterday as the first thing I thought of was 'Arboreal Sling!!!'

There is also buying a normal aquarium, I can get a 8x8x12 for £11 then turn in on its side, BUT how then do you make a front with access?!!

                      Sorry for the ramble

                        Mike, Ramble on mate!

I like the Exo-Terra tanks alot although in my opinion, i feel 12x12x12 is maybe a little to large. I am a Brachypelma fan and keep my 2 in 12x10x10 glass tanks.

But........ (he says laughing)........ I am beginning to decorate my T's tanks more and more so i can see myself moving over to 12x12x12 tanks soon. However, i think i would still opt for the glass tanks with the glass lids. (Sorry i cant remember who manufactures these).

How come the BTS do not sell items like this?

I do have a couple of smaller plastic type tanks with my L. parahybana and T. blondi in, and I only have a hide and water bowl atm. But the 2 ExoTerra I have decorated more with hide and some bog wood. If I did go for the 12x12x18 for an arboreal I would spend more time and more stuff in just to fill i up a bit, make it more of a show tank.

I am suprised places like the spidershop and tarantula shop dont sell proper sized tanks for T's.

I have bought a normal aquarium tank that Im setting up atm but am struggling to sort out a lid.

                          Mike

Hi Mike, i've cut and pasted this from another tread i posted on...hope it is of some help.

"If it's any help i kept mine (for the limited time i had it) in a 12" x 15" x 24" glass aquarium, tipped on its side so the length was height. I got a piece of 1" thick hardwood (just under 15" wide and 8" deep and fitted it with a tight fit on the lower part of the aquarium. filled up with 6" of substrate and then added 18" cork bark on the back side with a branch diagonaly from floor to top corner. I used contact adhesive to stick two 16" runners each side and slid a "cut to size" piece of glass down to the top of the wood."

This worked very well and humidity wasn't a problem at all.

                            Regards Colin

Cheers Colin, I'll have to try that. What did you do for ventilation?
