Right, in my infinate wisdom last night (it was the drink I think!) I was replying to everyone individually!

This time, huge thanks to the guys above who have added a little something to think about - Colin, you're nuts! (I like it! )

With regards the size of my collection, I don't feel I'm anywhere near my limit yet. I'm actually considering rehoming my Chameleon and Tree Frog to allow me more time and space for the spiders. Don't want them to become neglected.

Anybody interested, or know anyone that might be?

Colin, I'm 'Keeping something aside' to get me back and fore from the exhibition - and thensome! lol!

Dan, the latest additions (Much to my mothers disgust...)
      Adult - B, auratum
      Sling - Cyclosternum sp 'Machalla'
      Sling - Xenesthis intermedia
      Sling - Hysterocrates gigas

I think the local spiders have gotten wind there's a fan in the house as my mother tells me she's found about 5 house spiders here in the last 24 hours!! lmao!

Ray, regarding your "kit" to go.......I'll be stalking you for the next few weeks!! lol!

I think Lee is just short of getting a restraining order!!

          Jo,
as far as you're tree frog rehoming goes, i'm sure my lad Shane would like to help out (obviously pay the going price etc)
You could (if things get that way) bring it to the show and i'll store it in my tropical transport tank in the car.

piccie to show it'd be going to the right place (48" x 36" x 24"). and another to show what he's like with animals (apparently she seemed upset because she was in her holding cage whilst we cleaned out her room sized enclosure)

sorry this has nothing to do with spiders everyone

Colin, that would be amazing if Shane would be happy to take it? Just worried with the slings & co taking over that I won't have the time to spend with it.

Not sure what sex it is but I'm more than happy to just hand it over - no big deal about paying, so long as it's rehomed!

If it suits you I think bringing it to the show would be an idea.

            Thanks so very very much!

Not a problem, although i'm not sure about getting away with paying you something for it.
will PM or email you closer the time and discuss a plan of action.

consider it a done deal, shane's well happy

That's great Colin, so very happy it will get a new and educated home!

Did try to PM you with the the earlier reply but it said you weren't set up for them or something.

Definately give me a shout nearer the time.

With regards payment, I'm sure there'll be something at the show i will want in the way of a sling so we'll come to some sort of an agreement.

                  Priority is good home though!

Thanks you, and say thanks to Shane for me!

                    Ok Glen will do.
Just to point out some info though. It's a young Yemen male and he does have a genetic defect of one of his hind knees. Looks a little deformed (double jointed) but it doesn't hinder him in the slightest.

Again, as I mentioned to Colin about the frog, a good home is the most important thing for me.
He's such a character (Called him cedric) and I do love him but he does need a lot of attention.
I want to sort him out with a home that can give him that before I start to slip on my care due to work commintments and the ever increasing spider collection.
(Spiders are more suited to my lifestyle at the moment to be honest!)

Give me a shout if you don't mind the fact that he is a bit wonky (Love him!)

Sorry guys that this is not related directly to spiders but this is my best audience!

                    Glen, here's a pic

                    Colin/Shane, here's your frog!

anything unusual is certainly a conversation starter and a good addition to any collection.
I don't know if you read another thread i posted on but i'm aiming to get a little collection of Lycosa's, not the biggest spiders or the most colourful but i find the whole species fascinating.

                      Colin, tell me more!

                        Hi Jo

Sling (or whatever) for frog sounds good.

All PM settings are on in my profile so don't know whats happening there.

                        As for the Lycosa's.....

was it "tell me more" as in you agree.

or "tell me more" as in ...gimmi more info !!

there's a lot of myth and legend behind them as a species (the original "tarantula" etc) which i find extremely interesting.
commonly called Wolf spiders (as they were once though to hunt in packs) they are mainly active nocturnal hunters (suits me, i'm up and about then), not general "web" spinners but will line and cover their burrows with webbing (hence a fossorial enclosure is reccommended)
Some species care for their young in that they carry the egg sac around with them and then carry the spiderlings on their back intill old enough to leave their parent.
they're not large, but very nicely patterned in general, and a nicely proportioned spider.
i have an urge to get a few Lycosa Godeffroyi, which are a larger species (around 2.5cm body length) and maybe a pair of Lycosa Tarantula as i think the patterning is the most appealing to my eye.
There's one South American species (Lycosa Raptoria (the Brazilian Wolf spider)) which is, at my last enquiry, DWA as it has a more powerful cytotoxic venom that causes necrotising arachnidism which is the ulceration and deadening of the skin around the bite, for which there's no full effective treatment at the moment. so that won't be on my list. most other bites are controlled by disenfecting the area, antibiotics in severe reaction cases and being up to date with your tetanus vacinations.
I had a friend who kept around half a dozen specimens in the same habitat with no problem at all, this enclosure was around 3ft(L) x 1ft(H) x 18"(D) and gave enough room for all to burrow and hunt. they weren't phased by each other and actively hunted, mated and shared burrows etc in the 18 months he had them.

Worth a shot at aquiring some eh Jo?

Don't provoke me Colin, you know what i am like!! lmao!

Most girls can't resist a handbag or shoes (Stereotyping I know!) but my weakness is spiders!! lol.

They do sound interesting though...very interesting.

I had heard of them but only looked up an image of one on Giant Spiders.com the other day.

Where can you get hold of them from, if I was interested that is, which I'm not....am I?

                              Lmao!

hopefully i'll get put more on the right track at the show (thats if there's not any there....being hopeful here)
I've got some contacts for them around england but i would prefer to buy from a reputable source, the contacts here are dubious and a little unreliable
