        Hello,

        FYI.

The 1911 act which is refered to in this thread is now out of date due to the 2007 or 2006 (Can,t remember) animal welfare bill.

        Regards.

        Andy.

madness!!! well that ig knew how to look after itself...
sad that he had to take it to the RSPCA...i would think he would've checked before buying how big it'd get. if you can't handle the full-grown animal, don't bloody get it! circumstances can change, but in general that's annoying to me. it's more than just a toy.

i'm pretty happy with the law making it illegal to feed live vertebrates here in the UK for all the reasons stated above.
even crickets can be dangerous for the pet as well. i used to have rough green snakes, and one was killed by a rogue cricket! it had a massive hole in its neck after... i was gutted!

back on topic, i like some of the videos on youtube. the P Murinus handling one i saw was amazing...not to condone something so dangerous for such a nervous spider, but he almost seemed to have a rapport with it. never once did it rear up, it just walked onto his fingers as he made them available for it.

There is the possibility that the P murinus in question was fresh out of the fridge, you can't imagine what some people would do for youtube fame, and I dare say the OBT would be slightly less recalcitrant just fresh from a sub-zero holiday!
All those legs and not a pair of shoes in sight... Nice tarsus tho...

Well I've quickly gone thru all the posts(5 pages,on my mobile!) and tho i have a couple of vids up there i tend to steer clear of the site as there's too much garbage on there and i keep getting spam mails linking to porn sites. Having said that there are some good educational vids, not just Ts but I've found some good ones on bonsai(another hobby of mine) as well as some cracking music clips, not just rock but classical guitar and stuff like that.
As for feeding mice, well i wasn't aware it was illegal over here, but i wouldn't do it anyway; 1, i'd imagine it to be real messy afterwards,2 it aint worth losing my spider over and 3 my missus would kill me,especially as i have young kids, one of whom loves to watch our Ts! Now i don't see its wrong ethically if its ok to feed live locusts, surely they feel pain too after all but too many do it for the shock value i feel, especially on a certain site.
