B boehmei moult?

My B boehmei now has has a black backside for almost 2 weeks now. How long from the time his rear end goes dark till the time he actually skins?



My understanding it was a few days after it had gone dark, though I am probably mistaken?

As silly as it sounds, I'm wrried about her bursting!

The tub she is in is mosit enough and everyting, she just seems to want to take her time!

Thanks for posting this photo Kain. At least now I can see what a T looks like when ready to moult.
His/her abdomin looks like a wee balloon ready to pop.

What size is the bohemei? As the bigger they are, then the longer everything takes and as Richard said, brachys take their time over most things

Regarding the size of the abdomen, that is basically due to too much care.

Most T's will feed and feed, resulting a a distended abdo like this, however, it is unatural (look at pics of wild T's, they are all quite slim) and it can present a danger if the T falls back onto it, with an increased risk of rupture.

Once it has moulted, it's abdo will greatly reduce in size, it's worth bearing in mind for the future though.

He's about inch and a half legspan. He ain't eaten for about 3 weeks probably because he is comming upto skinning.

I feed mine 2/3 crickets once a week.

Thats perfect feeding kain, dont worry about feeding them to much they will only eat what they want to eat. The only known species that is prone to gluttony is T.Blondi ....there opisthosoma can get as big as a tennis ball ..the only thing you have got to be careful of is that it can ( when this big ) For females reduce their fertility. But what you are feeding them at the mo is fine.

my b.smithi is a little bigger but it took about 6 days from noticing it had turned black to moulting.
