    I have one question,
The show has a strict "no Handling" policy, i agree with this wholeheartedly for the members of the public who wish to view only.

For members who wish to purchase and "double check" on the sex of a T, or check the docileness of a particular species (and are serious about buying and not just out to mess around) would the option of an available "side room" be out of the question for such an activity.

I see what you are getting at I will consult Mr Hale.

We have tried this in the past and it has caused discontent.

For one picking up a tarantula and looking does not guarantee the sex depite what people say nad two if the spider is sold as a sexed female then the buyer shoud take note of the trader, get a receipt and then if it turn out to be male they should consult back with the seller.

Secondly, what constitutes a docile sprecies? Any tarantula can bite even the cutest of Chile Rose. The centre is covered by public liability, for which we pay and if any one does get bitten then its game over for us.

So in short there can be no handling at all at the show depite what I may or may not think.

I would ask anyone who sees any handling to report it to myself or any other commitee member immediatly.

I know its a pain but rules are rules.

Fair comment ray, had to ask the question as i'm sure there were others who may have had the question on their mind.
You've covered everything, wasn't sure if an "off site" room could be used and liability wavered by members signature on entering the room, this is what we used to do at the IHS shows if you wished to examine a DWA reptile before buying.

If you've tried it in the past and didn't work then that's that.

No fair play to you Colin if we dont ask we never find out.

I do know that the IHS had problems with this idea having spoken to their organisers in the past. Indeed it went along way to towards the problems the rep shows suffered. It doesnt matter whaty rules you install someone will break them.

I looked into liabilty waivers and decided that in reality they are not worth the paper they are signed on. ( Im a Health and Safety Manager for my sins)

Yes mate, the IHS scenario ran well for a few shows then there was an incident with a DWA species and a Prat (excuse that word but it fits well)
i think it all went down hill from there.

Just had a brief look at liability clauses and waivers on the net myself and i agree, seems we use the same paper in the WC

            Thanks for your efforts
