  • cork bark

    Hi to all.
I went to get a piece of cork bark today.
It was covered in a grey Fungi like growth.
What i would like answerd is, will it harm my T's?
If yes, what do i do to get rid of it? The bark seemed to be covered in it.

As with all things that go into a T's enclosure, it needs to be steralised.

My personal preference is to scrub with salted boiling water until all remnants of fungal growth have been removed, pour over (or rinse in) boiling water to remove salt extracts, shake dry and place in microwave (if it fits) for 30 seconds. leave to cool and place in T's enclosure.

Everyone seemed to go on about a rosea. They had a couple in nupets in Carlisle along with a pink toe. so i went and had a look. They were beautiful and looked in very good health so i sent for one of those from Lee @ the Spider Shop. I am just waiting now. I am hoping to get it on Tuesday, but we will see if Lee can manage Tuesday. If not maybe a couple of days later.

During tank maintenence, my mum puts all my water dishes and plant pots and bark into the dish washer on hot, she doesnt put wash tablets in, she puts lots of salt in, then it all gets dried on the window sill. it makes it all very clean and safe. the dish washer even gets T poo off.

                      Hi Harry

Congrats on purchasing your first T's. The G.rosea is lovely, I adore mine she is so pretty, and pretty easy to care for too. I have found mine to be a bit of a piggy tho, but the Trantula Keeper's Guide book does not seem to think this is a problem. I recommend this book if you have'nt already got it.

                      Have fun!!
