  • Cyriopagopus Schioedtei - Malaysian Earth Tiger

As some may know I managed to acquire on of these beautifal creatures from a friend for the princely sum of £5 for a 2" sling. ***DEAL!!!***

I've just rehoused her and she seems to be settling in fine.

I can only find a few articles about this sp online so was curious if anyone has any first hand experience and could share any tips/pointers.

So far I've came to realise that they are like greased lightening and pretty aggressive, especially for one so small, I've narrowly avoided being tagged twice so far.

But the speed - it's verging on scary!

Also, the sp I have is definately Cyriopagopus schioedtei, there was still a spidershop label on the original viv I received it in but am curious as to what the differences are between this sp and C. Thorelli, as both names seem intrinsically linked with the common name "Malaysian Earth Tiger".

Anyone care to switch on the lights?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long windedness!

    This should help:

I also keep C. shioedtei and C. sp. blue, keep them arboreal and fairly warm and humid. I've also found mine to be very intolerant of light.
    Hope this helps.

    Mike.

          Cyriopagopus sp "blue" Singapore

This is my Cyriopagopus sp blue setup

I think you can use a similar setup to the C.schioedtei.
After I transferred my C.sp blue to this enclosure, it eats more and is far more active. Now I even sometimes can take a picture of it. Still very sensble to light

              Lol, I agree Robert!

I bought two of these as juveniles too thinking they would be brilliant blue but mine also look nice and browny, reddy and non descript! (But very hairy!)

Can't wait till mine start to show their adult colouration though!!

Mind you, if you look really carefully you can see a hint of the blue/purple iridescence on the legs of this spider....
