Hi All,

My little B.bohemi sling has not eaten for well over a week possibly longer.
I have tried on Sunday with two micro crickets but took them out Monday evening as he had not eaten them (even tho he had had nothing for about four days). I tried again yesterday just put one in, but I have just taken that one out as well, as little one has taken to hanging from ceiling of his little tank.

He is slightly dark on his abdomen but not as black as I first thought. I'm getting worried now, he spends alot of time on wall of tank or on ceiling.

Any suggestion would be appreciated HELP

On another T, my local pet shop where I bought my G.Rosea has recently acquired another G.Rosea. This one is much smaller than mine about 2.5 to 3 in leg span. It appeared ok at first and just kept itself to itself but now they cannot even touch the lock on the door without it going abit skittish and it appears to move all its legs at once and jump about. I said I would put this to you all and see if anyone else had experienced this with a G.Rosea (its a good pet shop but they are a little worried).

I think it's moulting time for your Bohemi, dont worry too much about it not feeding, it will if it needs to, just make sure it has clean fresh water available.
If it's spending a lot of time away from its substrate then this maybe too damp, too dry or it just doesn't like the texture. (my Geniculata would not walk over the spagnum moss i placed in there for humidity purposes, once i removed most of it she was back to normal). try changing it for something else or alter the dampness see if that entices it down.

As far as the Rosea throwing a skitty....i've not come across this for such a normally docile species.

My B. boehmei, although larger than yours stayed near the top of her tank for the first couple of day and I think it was down to the substrate being a bit too damp for her liking. I had let it dry out for a while before putting it in her tank for her arrival but it wasnt dry enough for her. She is on the substrate most of the time now it has dried.

Is it possible yours is in premoult? I'm not in any way an expert but have read that they stop eating for a while before moulting. I dont know about slings but adults can fast for months before finally moulting.

I dont have a G. rosea but a guy I was talking to said he has 2, one of which is very temperamental and the other very docile. I suppose it can be like that with any critter, you always get a few that are the exception.

I've not had my B. boehmei long enough to comment, but my daughters G. rosea has been more 'active' since he's moulted and he's damn quick.

dont worry with your boehemi, it does definatly seem that its gonna molt. it can take ages. dont worry if it is still not eating after a month, brachys like dryish sub so make sure its dry and just mist every couple of days. the rosie at your shop is just one of them skitty rosies, out of 1000 rosies you will get 1 nasty or skitty one. i have 7 rosies and 1 rosie rcf and the rcf is skitty. its normal.

How big is the tank he is in? When I first had mine it just clung to the top of the tank and wouldn't move. It was suggested to me that the tank was too big and the spider felt venerable.

I transfered him to a smaller tank and he was happy as larry!

If thats not the case, it's probably in premoult, as again mine turned into a sloth before it moulted.

Kain don't worry, my B Boehmei sling went for 4-6 weeks without eating and then one day bam, freshly moulted spid!

Keep the hunidity good and just let it happen dude!

I got one of the B.Boehmei slings from the spider shop little more than three weeks ago, and after 5 days of not eating it moulted today.

I knew I could count on you all Many thanks, I have changed substrate and he is now down off ceiling!!! He's definitely pre moult, I guess I am just going to have to be patient. (not my strong point).

The tank is the smallest plastic one I could get it's about 7 x 3 x 5, but would it be safe to move him into a smaller tank if he's pre moult? I might try this Kain if its safe, thanks.
