  • Cyriopagopus sp 'Singapore Blue'

Right, I'm a little confused (Again!)

I have 2 x juv Cyriopagopus sp 'Singapore Blue's' I bought froma private breeder a couple of months back.

What I'm concerned about it they have both been through a moult each and are reaching an adequate size now but neither are even near the colour blue!!!

They are not much smaller than the specimens that Lee @ thespidershop waved under my nose!

Can anybody tell me if I maybe either have to wait a little more patiently or if I have another species that is instead brown/red striped!?

    Jo
Be patient, Cyriopagopus sp (blue) will not get that lustrious blue/purple colour till around 3-4 inches perhaps larger. Remmember this species is huge

They resemble C,schioedtei until the start getting a bit blue, this tends to be on the undersides first. It may be only visible for a few days after a molt then fade back.

Males will never go blue, but around the same size will mature into green leggy fellas.

This is a superb species and will grow very quick in the right conditions.

    All the best
    Mark

Thanks for the info - sigh of relief!! I was getting worried they were C, schioedtei because of the markings! Not that that is a bad thing but I had asked for Singapore Blue's!

One of them never appears and the other has recently started to sit out on the sides of it's home and it's the first chance I've had to have a look at it.

Brilliant, thanks. They do seem to be growing quite quickly i think another moult is imminent due to lack of eating at the moment!

      Cheers

Yay! Thanks Leon! Something to look forward to!

I mean they are stunning in their own right at this age as they are incredibly hairy with that amazing brick red colour and the stripes!

          Can't wait!

There is supposedly a very high percentage of males in this species.

                  Lee/Leon

I can see where this is going...

Lee you know my weakness! I loved the way you thrust one of those Singapore Blue females (?) under my nose as soon as I arrived at your stand at the show lol!!

                  You swines!

If you keep chipping away long enough I may eventually give in.

(And yes I read on your site there is a low ratio of females to males. If mine turn out to be 'fellas' then I will have to buy a female for them won't I? See I'm selling it to myself now aren't I??)

                  Hmmmm...

I had every intention to buy one of the Singa blues at the show, then I saw the P. regalis!! I'd still love a singa blue and will probably give in before long lol....
