Hello everyone,as i'm a new member i thought i'd introduce myself. My name's Matt Thomas and i've been fascinated by spiders all of my life.I once had a collection of over 40 but as circumstances in my life(divorce) changed i was unable to take them with me

Luckily my new partner is relaxed about me starting a new collection,so relaxed in fact that my pink toe lives in our living room in the yucca! Am i the only one so daft to do this i wonder?!

    Bye for now,Matt

Wow!? So am does this mean that you have a freestanding Yucca plant with a Pink-toe in it? Or [more sensibly] that you have a pink-toe in a yucca plant, in an enclosure of some sort?

    I like my initial idea...

      pink toe in yucca

I used to keep her in a tank but i wondered what would happen if i let her loose on the yucca, which is in the open.By the morning she'd made her tube, which has become gradually thicker as she's added more silk and she's alot happier. She leaves her entrance at about 9 every night and its just so cool to see her roaming,i wouldn't do this with a male though,as we all they like to roam!

that's fantastic to have the opportunity to allow the spider freedom like that! it must be stoked!
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

I'm reminded of the 'Homer in space' Simpsons episode - "Freedom! Horrible, horrible freedom!"

Neverthless I like the sound of it. Hullo, Matt!

Im the same with having a cat otherwise I would do same. Although when I get my heated shed in a few years for my breedings I may do something like that. If anything my cat would be more curious and try play with it. Nice idea of free roaming avic and if crickets are tipped on the plant it would have no reason to wonder around the house. Any arboreal asians would be risky lol

                        Get rid of the pussy!

If i was you i'd trade the cat for a colony of avics! When i say roam, she doesn't actually leave her yucca, when i think she is ready for a cricket i'll place one near her and she'll jump on it,nearly had me finger the other night!
