I missed the show this year but I was at last year's one. If you don't mind me saying, where else can you get a show like this, as big as this, with all the diversity and bargains and rare species; you could of course go to Germany in september but you wouldn't find one nearer. I think Ray and Angela deserve gratitude for their efforts as well as the rest of those who helped out. Ok there will always be the occasional problem with an event this size, I gather this year there an issue over some wrongly labelled spiders and last year someone tried selling some DWA specimens. But that's life, things got sorted out. Give the organisers a pat on the back and go and enjoy those great spiders you bought!

Yes the show was crowded and stuffy, but where else are you going to go??

You could put the show on anywhere, and i'd still turn up for it. It is, and will always remain the best tarantula show in the world (copywrite pending )

My only concern was with the smaller room, always seemed to be empty, as if no one could find it. Apart from that, i thought it was as good as the ones at Woodgreen.

      See you in 2008

Ray, what you have done is outstanding, organising a huge show around a full time job, you need knighting.
Every new venue will have somesort of teething problem at first but that is understandable. It was a fabulas show and we travel 180 miles each way to be amongst a busling crowd of spider fanatics & we WILL do it again year after year.
The catering was ok, better than last year (was same company I hear) food was better. The whole thing was better than last year & as you said ''why bring loads spids for 1 table'' We made that mistake but trying to fit myself, Sonny, Mary, Trev & my old man behind the table just did not go lol. I thinks we leave the old man at home next year and just bring his wallet.

You say the 'culprit' came up and told you to your face, I would've slapped him lol. I dont think anyone on our forum (arachnophiles) has anything bad to say about you Ray just praise.

Thanks for your kind comments. Anyone who knows me will tell you that the BTS is my passion and I will argue, and often do, with anyone. (Ask Angela)

There were problems and they have been resolved.

The BTS Exhibition will return next year (18th May 2008 ) and myself and Angela will still be involved.

Now go and enjoy your spiders

Seriously, it's a pity we can't take over the kitchen for the day and all profits go to BTS. Hygiene wouldn't be a problem as I have been in catering for 30 years, so I think I know a bit about it. What do you think Ray ???????

You know Mary, i don't think thats a bad idea....
The amount of people on here with all their different talents etc we could cut down the amount of costs of setting up the show or lectures (time or actual material costs) thus more profits go to the BTS equalling more monies available for funding reasearch etc.

Like Mary said, there's a few with catering experience that could prepare and run the canteen etc.
I for one wouldn't mind designing and printing leaflets, price lists, membership cards, tickets etc for free. (i would term it as a little thanks to the society)

anything we could save in time and costs would be adventageous.

Is it worth a thought Ray, Angela ??????

Yup have to agree with Colin, anything to give back to the society would be good.
