I've just managed to get my husband to make, yet another, lid for my N. chromatus as the little blighter keeps escaping. This one should be escape-proof lol. I checked him this morning and he was sitting up in the back right hand corner of the tank where he escaped from the first time. He has done this everytime a new lid has been put on. Is this normal behaviour for a T? He's the only one I've had that has escaped so far.

i think in general they're fairly clever at finding a space they can fit through...
i had an adult male Ceratogyrus Darlingi who escaped for a few days cause i assumed he couldn't fit through the gap between tank and lid. i rectified my error after i found him! luckily he was in a clear plastic bag, sitting on a calendar, and thus was easy to move! the thought of that angry chap (RIP) possibly making his way to that bag via my bed at night was ...interesting!
is there a chance your T is able to lift the lid enough to slip out?
good luck getting the size and weight to be just right!Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

The previous lid was quite a heavy one adapted from another tank, it had 2 holes in the back for the old light fittings so we covered them with wire mesh. What we didnt do however was make sure the wire was secure all the way around and the little bugger managed to lift the edge of the wire and squeeze himself out. Luckily he did no damage to himself, which was surprising considering the size of the gap he squeezed through. We managed to find him behind a bit of board propped up against the window so my husband managed to pick the board up and place it over the tank. We then put a heavy object on top so he couldn't escape again, although he did look for a way out, and spent an entire day hanging upside down.
This new lid, however, is a very tight fit and reasonably heavy so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will do it.B. boehmei - T. blondi - G. rosea x 5 -
