    Scott,

They will dig and move the substrate round if there's enough of it. mine all do !
Don't worry it's just doing what it would in it's natural habitat.

Hehe! ...my Brachypelma albopilosa sling has built a substrate wall from his shelter to this water dish, so when he is thirsty, he can sneak along the wall without being seen! occasionally poking his head over the top to see whether im watching.

My new L.parahybana is into landscape gardening as well, it seems to have created what looks like a skateboard arena and has left it's hide just perched on 4 points with daylight coming in all around?

It is interesting to see how meticulously it all gets flattened/smoothed out, whereas my old Smithi just used to dump substrate in big clumps.

Bit annoyed as I had set it up neat and tidy, as I wanted it - but heh, it is the spiders place after all!

The little A.Geniculata on the other hand just keeps dumping substrate into it's water dish - does anyone know if that signifies something that it may not be happy with?

          Neil,
All the A. geniculata i have had liked the substrate a little on the damp side at least in one area of the enclosure.
Try dampening one area away from the water bowl and see if it favours that area.
You may just have a T that likes shoveling substrate around with no objective though at the end of the day.

Interesting as I have just moved it tonight onto a coconut fibre/vermiculite mix, which still feels a tad damp to me.

I put a decent size stone in as an island refuge from the substrate, so if they like a wetter area perhaps it will stop filling it's bowl now?

I done 9 years in the regulars which amongst other things included a 6 month stint in Belize.......The inverts i came into contact with there...wicked!...just wish i knew the names of them then..!

BTW Scott i see where the "slip" came from now..

                      prow = pro / professional

                      marks mun = marksman

It's all about "roles" Scott...In the old days (the cold war) we had the SLR 7.62 cause we were expected to slogg it out (preferably at range) with the russkies on some German battlefield.............However since the middle of the 80's the armys role became more orientated towards peace keeping and urban patrol so a lighter, shorter ranged weapon was preferable....
The fact that americans plus quite a few other nato countries use the same calibre (5.56) was also a contributing factor............but yes, the sa80 was'nt very good although i've heard it's been redesigned now since i last had hold of one.....

Incidently....i was once witness to a demonstration that included most weapons used by Nato plus a few Warsaw block rifles......the standard issue english SLR 7.62 was the only weapon (it was only standard issue rifelmans weapons that were on test..no tripod mounted or heavy calibre jobbies) that could put a single round through a brick wall at 50 meters...saw it with my own eyes. Not even the Russian AK 47 when fired on automatic could do that despite it also being calibre 7.62.

i was at life fire demo wonce at night we have a GPMGS (general purpose masine guns all get the abrasion wrong lol ) i was told that it was a platoon of them hat to be i worked out that there was 15 guns and the tracers were flying lovely. But at first a lynx came over and dropped a secion down and flow off, then a voice came over telling us what and why they were there and then shouted contaced frunt. and the GPMGS opened up and a Field in the distance with a voice shouting over the guns as u just herd run on that the next 1 that gets it is dead, on discipline in firing.
then a Milan fired and a nuther 1 the first hit the target and bounced up lol second killed it i used to use them when i was in the fusiliers TA HQ, a huge noise of rusty metal grinding came over head on the back behind and above me. i was told it was a scimitar never see 1 so dont now im used to worriers, when it fired the noise of the gun made me duck not the rounds was brout up around guns. next day was chatting to some 1 that had been in it and he reckons that they had 30,ooo rounds to use. 2 dreams done in 1 week end went to supply coms and was given snippers on training just misted out on using it but civy range man sed that the caps name not on the list so they used blanks , they were reg's in the Foclunds, now TA, and had a fire demo to woch wow what a week end, we sed sorry to the snipers was we had the old coms to use and we were in valys so no sig. was going reg i was on evey week end going and when with other TAs and regs as well that my CO. got me to go on so i was out all most every week end mosty garding things lol but if they cut me open and work on my back like they are thinking i might be abull still not on a medical discarge, sorry for spellings as i have dexlya and the spell cheacker on here not riged for me, lol

I have to say that although I've never really been interested in the military before, these have been the most interesting non-spider posts I've read in a while. Thanks!
sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!

                            then a Milan fired
Heres one for you...Next time you watch "Life of Brian" check out one of the closing scenes where a wizard fires his wand/staff out into the distance...Thats really a Milan rocket being fired from a ledge to the front and under the wizard...

sorry for spellings as i have dexlya and the spell cheacker on here not riged for me, lol
Not just the spelling mate. Your grammer and puncuation is a bit dodgy to....(not that mine is much better), still i think i got what you was on about...
You might want to get that spell checker sorted out Scott, it'll be hard for people to understand you otherwise. Also try and break your writings down into smaller sentences/paragraphs, that'll also help people understand you better.
