She certianly is moving more now, but its really sad to see her like she is.

I'm going to put her in a small tub now with a waterbowl and put her quiet for abit.

I'm confident shes all sealed up now and shes had a drink. I think this is where nature takes over now.

    Fingers crossed.

Well good luck fella, theres alot of us that know what it's like to have a sickly spider. All you can really do is hope for the best with her. You have done your bit with the glue, just give her some space and hopefully she will come round.

Not sure if this is a bad thing, you can see its heart pumping in the abdomen (not literally see it)..

Is that a sign of the end?

My L. parahybana was doing that for about six or seven hours after it moulted, pumping fluids around the body and "presurising" the new exoskeleton into shape, the same as a butterfly enlarges it's wings when emerging from the pupa is a simple comparison.

Oh so it could be a good thing since I sealed her up?

I would say yes, she would have been trying to force fluids around and not getting any presurising results.
i would imagine getting her to drink and keeping her calm has helped out as well.

                      Sadly she died overnight.

Had a look at the body this morning, and all her legs were bent, buckled and twisted. I think it's the result of a couple of problems.

Either she has actually molted too early before her new skin was fully formed (Hormone imbalance or something like that) or simply was a bad molt, in which theres nothing anyone could do anyway.

Sad really she is a really nice girl. I guess these things happen though.

                        Sorry mate,

seems you did all you could.

On the up side she may still be of some use, if you contact Ray Gabriel or Richard Gallon they may wish to use her in their research. i have a dead spider for them and was advised by Mark to pop it in the freezer untill such time as it can be transfered to storage solution.

I think it's a good way of putting something positive back in the hobby from a dissapointing situation.

This might sound really stupid, but I don't think I could send her away to be cut up or whatever.

As silly as it sounds, I got really close to her yesterday when I was holding her up so she could have a drink, she felt like a 'proper pet' if you know what I mean.

Ive got a little box for her and going to bury her in the garden next to the rose bush.

I know you lot will probably thing I'm a saddo, but so be it

                                Hi Kain,

I have kept insects and spiders since I could first walk. I have researched them, studied them, worked with them. But I still feel gutted when I loose a Tarantula. It's even worse when you have nurtured them on from a sling!

I wish I knew why people get so attached to a spider - sadly though Psychology is not my field.

Sadly death is a natural part of the circle of life and these things happen. From your threads it looks as though you tried everything you could and from a keeper perspective you should be pleased with yourself for your efforts.

                                Jay.
