  • Gryllus bimaculatus

    Hello,

Does anyone know what the egg sac of a Gryllus bimaculatus looks like?
I'm not sure wether I am looking at a cricket egg sac or are large pile of cricket poo.

    Many thanks.

They do not construct egg sacs, the lay single eggs in the substrate with use of the ovipositor that protrudes from their abdomen.

Crickets normally lay eggs singularly in the dirt, there's a (bit blurry) picture of one on here...

        Cheers Colin.

Thanks mate, I don't know what this stuff is then, it looks like a kind of egg sac and its brown, there is three of them in the cricket keeper. Maybe it is excrement?

            Hi Chris,

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, Is a dermestid a kind of cleaning beetle? If so I havent noticed any, besides I have only one tarantula so I buy just five or six crickets a week, only four are actually fed, the other two act as reserves as these crickets cannabalise occasionally.
That reminds me, living in Finland I am finding it hard to track down any tank cleaning woodlice, would you know of anyone willing to ship here that doesn't require an order over £50.00 in order to ship?

            Many thanks
