  • B boehmei - Female?

Some of you may remember my B boehmei skinned a few months ago, but we decided that it was too small to sex.

Anyway she/he/it has skinned again, and I think it's a girl!

Looks like there is a flap developing there - I could be wrong though.

    Shes now about 4 inches.

    Very vivid coloured too!

Kain , that certainly looks like a flap but looking at the actual spider i would have put my house on that being male mate , weird one that !

Really? How does it look male? Is there certain characteristics thats gives it a make look?

            I'm intrigued now

Well , the males i have had are all very leggy , have small abdomens and have smaller looking chelicerae . In general the females are a lot more chunky looking where as yours has all the characteristics i mentioned , very leggy , small abdomen and chelicerae !

I know the internal sexing is more reliable and i will probably be criticised for posting this but it does look male to me !

Only my non-expert opinion i might add

              Cheers

Yeah but remember Kain's Boehmei has only just shed before that picture was taken.

I don't have many T's but the ones I do have always come out of a shed looking male (small adbomens, mostly legs).

My boehmei looked like Kains just after it shed two weeks ago. Now it's been fed a few times, it looks more like your female.
