  • A. bicoloratum growth rate

I've had my 1/2cm A. bicoloratum for a bout 2 months now and still no signs of moulting its eating well, it has a small cricket leg once a week and munches most of that. I know they are slow growers but this is getting rediculous, my Bro's juvy B.albopilosum has moulted twice and I thought they were slow growers too lol.

So any ideas on how slow they actually are and when I should expect a moult lol.

They are known to be extremely slow glowers Abi and they dont get very big either.
    Have a read here http://www.petbugs.com/caresheets/A-bicoloratum.html

    They are very beautiful.

My little G. aureo went 7 weeks between moults. I had expected less time but he decided when he was ready lol.

He/she will surprise you one morning when you least expect it. They are one of the longer lives species and meant to be slow and docile so it looks like they just like to take their time.

Aphonopelmas are notoriously ssssllllloooooowwwww growers. I have two A. chalcodes that I aquired a year ago. They were 1/4 inch long when I got them and have only molted twice in a year. One of them is now 3/4 inch long, and the other is still about 1/2 inch. I fully expect them to take a few more years before they get any decent size to them.

My daughter had an A. bicoloratum as a christmas present and it's just grown to about 1/2 cm. I can only imagine how small it was when she got it lol.

I've got some 3.5year old A.crinirufum slings, and they are still only just over an inch legspan.

you can expect to wait 5+ years before maturing if female. so I hope you like spiders these can live up 35 years that is why they are such sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow growers
