Possible hybrid?

I know I have mentioned this before

My B. vagans or B. albop has just moulted and looks great but now that I have seen him/her clearly it looks like he has blondish hairs on the legs but fresh from moult the abdomenal hair looks red.
I'm now thinking he is possibly a hybrid of vagans/albop. Can you please give me your views? He is approx 4 inches/slighly less.

Thanks Wesley but in all the pics I have seen of the B. sabulosum the carapace is black. Mine is lighter but its possible that the carapace will dsarken as he gets older?

Do you have any pics of yours as a juvenile Mike? I think you are right that mine isnt a B. albop. They have way more hair

I dont Im afraid Elaine, I bought her as an adult female. And shes going to a new home tomorrow as I've sold of most of my collection. Just leaving myself with around 5 or 6.

The differences I see between yours and mine is the colour of the hair on the abdomen, mine is more red than yours but still not the bright red of the vagans (will check again in a few days to see if the colour has dulled a bit). Mine also doesnt have the long blondish hairs on the front legs.

Similarities are the carapace colour, the longer blondish hairs on legs III and IV.

Hmm, its looking more like I have a cross between the albop and the vagans.

If you go to www.bighairyspiders.com you should be able to navigate( if you scroll down you should see some differents species arranged by genus) to a caresheet for B.Vagans and on it near the top is A link to The B.Vagans Photo Album from in which there is one photo which does look a bit like yours. The man who runs the website says that it is very difficult to capture a B.vagans picture properly which may mean that the angle at which you are looking at your spider may make it look different. There are also some good spider caresheets on that page which are worth a look

The photo there looks like it was taken before the carapace darkened so mine might do the same as he grows.
That certainly helped.

no one can tell you 100% certain what you have there. *looks* like a nice B. vagans to me.
no leg markings, hairs are not curling. vagans can have some red hairs on the hind legs.

As Eduard-I JH told it is looks like possible real B. vagans... but...
The color of carapace told me that it doesn't possibly already reach adult coloration, so, we'll see and discuss after the next molt.

Thanks Mikhail It did make me wonder if the carapace colour was due to being a juvenile. I will post pics after the next moult.
