  • B.boehmi Mating

We mated our female B.boehmi last night with a male on loan.
It was the fastest mating I've ever seen. We tried to 'shark tank' him in the females tank but he was quite skittish and was having none of it. He walked straight out of his tank and wondered about the bath for a bit (all the time we're trying to corale him into a pot) and then he walked up the side of the females tank, in, and wandered right up to her. He touched her leg gingerly and she quickly turned to face him and he was striaight in there getting her hooked up and getting underneath her. The clinch probably only lasted about 30 seconds or so berfore he carefully started backing up. We put a pair of tongs between them for his safety but she was in a trance and didn't move for the next couple of minutes

This is the male doing a runner when we took the lid off his tank.

This is when the male ran up the side of the females tank and nearly ran into her

This was taken just as he ran up to her.

This is when he was gently touching and rubbing her legs.

    The same as above!

This was when he was starting to push her back.

This was when he had pushed her back and insertion occurred.

This is the male doing a runner after finishing the job!

This is the female in a trance.

    So is this...

    And this...

Lol, he didn't need any help moving away after the deed was done, the forceps were just to make sure she didn't follow.
