Thank goodness its the weekend! Earlier in the week my B.auratum started pulling its legs off. It had been off food for a week and I presumed a moult, but the poor thing wouldn't even take water. Despite trying to nurse her she died midweek, it looks like a blockage in her throat (or whatever the spider equivalent is) making her unable to eat. Then yesterday my P. ornata dies! on top of which I've had 9 moults, another 9 due now and I dread the thought of what my neighbours upstairs must think if they can hear comments like "go on, have a good munch" when I throw my P. miranda a big cricket like this morning. Roll on next week!

oh no! sorry about your losses
hope the next week goes smoother!Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

Thanks Elaine. I don't think anyone could have looked after their spider more than you did Neil. Its not so bad when its old age like with my P.ornata, but when they are ill and the futility and hopelessness comes along, thats horrible. I found that out a week ago. All the best, I moved the B. smithi into her new home today and she loves it (I think).sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!
