  • L.Parahybana moulting!

Shakira my L.Parahybana has just started her 8th moult! She's gonna be a monster!!!! The good news is shes doing it right where I can see her, and I've hooked up a DV camera in a really good spot. The trouble is I've only got a 90 minute tape.... She's been in the same position for a few hours now, I'm going to try and wake up early to catch the most exciting bits - hopefully I'll get all the good stuff on camera! fingers crossed..

she was on her back for so long I thought it would take all night. I stopped the video camera and fell asleep, then woke up at 5 and she had done it - I will try and get an 'after photo" up later.

Looks like the video will have to wait till next year!!

              Hi Mark
How big is she now? I too have a L.Parahybana. It's only about 2" and is unsexed. Spends most of it's time inside it's neatly constructed burrow. It's completely trashed the place, lol. I was just wondering how long it's taken to get to the 8th molt?

My daughter's L. parahybana moulted back in August. I didn't think she could get any bigger but she has. She's just huge now and an absolute beauty.

Yes they are fast growers! And exhibit a lot of interesting behaviours, while mine was smaller she used to completely rebuild her burrow before a shed, making it much bigger as if she knew whats coming. Since this shed she's been sat out in the open. #I can't wait till she she's fully stretched and starts clambering around, but by the looks of her clenched up she's already a monster! - its only taken a bit over a year since sling!
